Re/Homing: Walk-ins Welcome

by Christina Hughes in collaboration with Vietnamese artists

Apr. 30th - Jun. 1st, 2025

In a moment of intensive immigration enforcement, RE/HOMING: WALK-INS WELCOME takes up the stakes and questions raised by the mass resettlement of the first Vietnamese refugees 50 years ago. Five Vietnamese artists living in the diaspora use queer and feminist approaches to challenge masculinist visions of homelands lost and nations defended. Together, they re-cast the gallery space as a site of unequivocal welcome, asserting that re/homing means returning to the discarded members of our own communities.

Celebrating Lunar New Year Together

by a Collaboration of Asian American Artists

February 16 - March 16, 2024

In this collaborative exhibition, 12 Asian American artists are sharing how they celebrate Lunar New Year with their families and ethnic communities. This exhibition recognizes and honors how each ethnicity celebrates Lunar New Year in their own unique way and how over time these celebrations may have evolved. One artist, Vivian Tran, highlights in her photos how lion dancing was traditionally a male activity, but now, women are challenging those gender norms. This increases representation but also "demonstrates that anyone, regardless of gender, can embrace cultural traditions."

Mountains and Trees

by Ung Lim Lee

June 2023

There are many things to learn from trees. Once they root, they grow there until they die, whether it’s a good environment or not. They don’t fight over territory even if branches from neighboring trees invade their space. They don’t complain if parts of their foliage are shaded from exposure to the sun. They are always in one place. When tree roots grow, they may encounter tough boulders along the way but with persistence and tenacity they can break even the toughest rocks. They slowly crack through and find their way.
