About the event
Paint to Express workshops are a free event that we host each month to provide our community with a safe space to express themselves creatively.
- Free painting supplies
- Yummy snacks
- No experience necessary
Although all are welcome, this is a Black, Indigenous, and People of Color centered workshop, as safe spaces to express ourselves are not always available.
This space is for you to show up as you are and be your authentic self. We encourage folks to paint what they like and engage in conversation with fellow painters. MTM provides free painting supplies, snacks, music, and vibes. No experience necessary!
This month we are collaborating with XIA Gallery & Café, a café and art space located in St Paul. XIA supports the creative work and entrepreneurship of Asian American artists & makers by providing resources and spaces to showcase and grow. They envision an artist led space that produces economic and cultural value and strength to all artists & makers, regardless of background.
A creative space where arts & culture increases visibility, uplifts communities, and creates positive impacts. We encourage attendees to support Xia by purchasing a dessert or beverage from the café during the workshop, or by shopping at their market, featuring hand crafted items by local artists.
*This Paint to Express workshop is part of Memorialize the Movement's Community Creates series. Our goal with this 12 month long series is to bridge the gap between college students and local organizers, creating an authentic experience for students to learn about the people making a difference in their communities around the Twin Cities and be exposed to new ways of thinking about social justice and activism.*
